Episode 11: How to Organize Your Knitting Projects Outside of Ravelry

Gemma Adeva

As I've shared previously on the podcast and on my social media, I stopped using Ravelry a while ago. This meant I had to create a complete organization system for my knitting projects, my skeins, the patterns I own, etc. It's been a fairly natural transition for me, and it also allows me to spend a little time making and using things I love (pretty stationery!).

Several of you have asked me how I do it, and in this episode I'll explain it in detail in case you feel like quitting Ravelry, or using it a little less. You can live without Ravelry, and you'll live well, I promise 🙂

NOTES FOR THIS EPISODE

Sections: On my needles, Knitflix.

– At The Knit Cafe we are waiting for you to join us for the Christmas KAL.

– The yarn I’m using to design my sweater (which I’m currently calling My Fade) is Mondim by Retrosaria Rosa Pomar dyed by La Bien Aimée, in the colors Rust and Driftwood Graffiti.

– For my Christmas socks I've chosen shade 9402 from Regia Season Color and the pattern is the Christmas Tree Socks by Alessandra Parsons. For the Luminaria Shawl I'm going to use two of Yarnitas' own bases, one in a natural color (Donegal Sock, which is not yet available) and the other in Soft Singles, although the color is a limited edition (and secret!) for this year's Advent Calendar. As soon as December 25th passes I'll be able to show it 😛

Here you can see how the Regia Season Color colors look knitted, I love them all!

– Series and films mentioned on Knitflix: Midnight Mass, Big Mouth, Hypnotic, Sex Education, Locke and Key, Tiger King, The Office.

– So far, I've made my knitting notebooks in a dotted Leuchtturm1917 . I really like this A5 notebook because it has a zipper, numbered pages, an index, and a back pocket to store whatever you need.

– As I said, I don't usually recommend pre-designed project books, but the Vogue Knitting one has won my heart, and it's the one I'm going to use for the next year (and until I finish it). In Episode 9, you'll find a full review, as well as a video showing the inside of its pages here on the blog.

– You can download your stash spreadsheet from Ravelry, and if you prefer to do so from an external source, you'll find additional information and a downloadable spreadsheet on this blog .

– The apps I usually use on my phone to keep track of alongside my notebook are Yarn Buddy and to access Ravelry and all its features Stash 2 Go .
