5 summer patterns to knit this spring

Gemma Adeva

Every year it happens to me the same: summer arrives and I haven't knitted anything I can wear during the warmer months. I always try to stay organized so I don't get caught short, but then I get distracted knitting sweaters and socks, haha. This year I'll be luckier, because since we moved to the Pyrenees, the warmer weather won't arrive for a while... and that means I'll still have time to knit some of those summer tops I've had my eye on.

My thing with summer knitwear is a love-hate relationship. I usually love seeing other people's finished projects, but I don't like them on myself, either because I don't think they look good on me or because I'm not really a fan of summery qualities like cotton, linen, etc. But I still make the effort to look for projects that I think might work :)

This year I have my to-do list full of summer patterns, and after sorting through them, these are the 5 patterns I like the most and of which I hope to knit at least two.

Darjeeling Blouse

That Trust The Mojo blouse has stolen my heart. I love the sleeve and bodice details, and the shoulder construction. I think it's a project that pairs well with many types of clothing (pants, skirts, shorts, etc.), and since it's similar to a T-shirt, it must be very comfortable. It's perfect for those who live in an area like mine, where it's quite warm during the day but the temperatures drop at night.

It also has a top version if you're looking for something cooler.

Tolsta Tank

The best thing about this top is that you can knit it however you like and adapt it however you want, as it comes in different versions (strapless, sleeveless, round or square neck, striped, plain, etc.). Nothing beats knitting something personalized to your tastes and your body. I would make it vest-style, as seen in the photo, but in a solid color.

Seagrass Tank

Aaaaah, the details on this top are so amazing! The Seagrass Tank is the perfect example of how adding a few small details can transform a basic garment into something super stylish and distinctive. I love both the lace trim on the sides and the folded and sewn edges. Yes, they take longer to make, but the result is worth it (and I'm sure they add structure to the top).

Summer Top

Another top that caught my eye and that I would knit in stripes is the Estiu Top. I'm not sure I'd really like the bottom part; maybe it's a little too loose for my taste compared to the fit of the rest of the body, but there's nothing a few strategically placed decreases can't do ;)
I think this top would be perfect for wearing with short jeans. I just need to decide on the colors!

Be My Tulip Top

And finally, I leave you with this cutie... it couldn't be cooler and more delicate. It's one of those garments I'd knit in several different colors to wear as a basic when it's really hot. It's also one of those designs that I think would be hard for someone not to wear well.

Did you like the selection? Tell me what garment you'd like to knit this summer or if you've already knitted any of these patterns. And of course, I welcome summer project recommendations!
